Crestone Deer Woman

Crestone Deer Woman draws inspiration from Deer Woman stories told in several Native American traditions, whose meanings vary across communities. In some tellings, she is a powerful spirit who confronts men who harm women and children. In Sammy Prien’s interpretation, she stands for justice against violence toward women and for women’s right to claim their own personal power. This artwork honors her fierce presence as a symbol of dignity, resilience, and the refusal to be diminished.
